Welcome to
Woodypaws Ragdolls

We are based in Billericay, Essex, approximately 25 minutes from the M25/Dartford crossing and 15 minutes from Chelmsford.

We are experienced Ragdoll breeders and have held our GCCF prefix 'Woodypaws' since 1991.  We are also Registered Breeders with the British Ragdoll Cat Club.

We breed only Ragdoll cats and have a limited number of kittens throughout the year.  Many of our kitten enquiries are from owners who have had one of our kittens before, which just shows that 'Ragdolls are addictive'.

We have shown our Ragdolls on a regular basis, so that we can be confident that the kittens we produce are a good example of the breed.

WE HAVE KITTENS AVAILABLE

 Our Ragdoll Family
We are passionate breeders of affectionate and gorgeous Ragdoll cats, with a focus on their health, temperament, and socialization,  Every kitten is raised with love and care to ensure they are well-adjusted and ready to join your family.

All our kittens are raised within our family home as we believe this is the best way to ensure the friendly, laid back character for which Ragdolls are famous.

In line with GCCF rules, all our girls and boys have been DNA tested (by Langford's laboratory in Bristol) for the known HCM gene. This is a heart disease which can be found in Ragdolls and other breeds of cat and my not show up until a cat is several years old.

All our girls have been DNA tested for the known HCM gene.

HEALTHY AND HAPPY KITTENS

Our Ragdoll kittens are raised in a loving environment with proper veterinary care and a focus on their well-being. All our kittens are carefully raised within the home and are used to all the normal household noises (vacuum cleaners, washing machines, television) and activities. They will be used to using both a litter box and a scratching post. Our kittens are fully vaccinated (at nine and twelve weeks) against flu and enteritis and also microchipped. They are treated for fleas and worms as a precaution. We breed kittens in both seal and blue and all traditional patterns, that is, bi colour, colourpoint and mitted. We also have tabby (lynx) kittens sometimes available. Because Ragdolls are housecats and should not be allowed to roam outside the home, they can be very lonely if kept on their own all day. For this reason we do not allow kittens to go to homes where they will be left alone for long periods of time, without the company of either their owner or another house cat. Some of the questions we are most frequently asked

When can I first visit a kitten?

We understand that new owners are keen to visit their kitten, but they must first have a vet check and initial vaccinations at 9 weeks old.

In the meantime we will send out regular updates on the kittens' progress.

Kittens leave us at 13 weeks, having had their 2nd vaccination and vet check.

Why should Ragdolls not be allowed to roam freely?

Ragdolls are strictly house cats for the following reasons:

They have a very trusting nature and for this reason could easily allow themselves to be taken.  This, coupled with their good looks, means that they are an easy target for 'catnappers'.

There are a lot of dangers out there in the form of dogs, foxes and other wild animals, to say nothing of poisons such as anti freeze. One of the biggest threats is, of course, from cars.

They can aquire a number of diseases from other cats, such as HIV (which cannot be vaccinated against) and FeLV.

However - Ragdolls can be given access to a secure garden or else some are happy to accept a harness for strolls with their owners

How big to Ragdolls grow?

Female Ragdolls are usually smaller than males, reaching 8 - 12 lbs, with males reaching 12 to 16 lbs. However these are general guidelines and Ragdolls don't stop growing until they are 3 - 4 years old.

It can be hard to imagine when I kitten is small, just how quickly they will grow. For this reason it is best to buy a large carrier and preferably one with a top opening as these are much easier to use.

How often should Ragdolls be groomed?

Because Ragdolls are semi-longhaired cats, they do not tend to mat if they are brushed/combed on a regular basis, ie twice a week.

This should begin when the kitten is small so that it becomes happy with the experience.
